A Pakistani national was arrested for violating the law in Turkey.
According to a media report, a resident of Lahore had reached Turkey with pan chalia (betel nut).
The media report further stated that the Pakistani national was sent to jail for six months for violating Turkish law. Betel nut, and pan are considered drugs in Turkey.
According to the media report, the Pakistani citizen was sent to Turkey by a private company with good reputation, he was carrying two packets of betel nuts as a gift to his tour operator.
The brother of the arrested Pakistani says he was not told about the Turkish law by customs officials or anyone else. He has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for help to release his brother.
