KARACHI: The Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce will organize Biryani Festival in five countries of the world to boost rice exports.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by Commerce Secretary Saleh Farooqi, that festivals will be held in association with Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (RAP), a representative body of rice exporters.
Anwar Mian Noor, senior vice chairman of RAP, who was present at the meeting, told Jang that after these measures, Pakistan’s rice exports and Pakistan’s market share in these countries are expected to increase significantly.
The government has approved for the Biryani Festival with funds from the Export Development Board of the Trade Development Authority.
Mohammad Anwar said that in the meeting of the Export Development Fund Board set up under the Ministry of Commerce, the proposals for holding Biryani Festival in 5 countries should be approved in principle.
