Pakistan touches grim point of 1m cases amid fourth wave of COVID-19

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Coronavirus cases crossed 1 million cases as 14,215 new infections reported during the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced on Friday.Pakistan marked third day of Eid ul Adha under shadow of coronavirus.
In the last 24 hours 25,215 tests were conducted and the positivity ratio was below 6%. The current positivity rate stands at 5.65% and the total number of cases are 1,000,034, said the NCOC.
This situation is termed the grim milestone as two months after Pakistan’s tally of positive cases crossed 900,000.
The death toll from the coronavirus now stands 22,939 in Pakistan, after 11 people lost their lives to the disease.
While the number of recovered patients stands at 923,472 and the active cases of the country are 53,623.
The current year, Eid celebrations came at a time when a steady rise in COVID-19 cases has been witnessed and the threat of the Delta variant looms large.
Vaccine
NCOC twitter account says, vaccine administered across Pakistan on 22 July: 180,279, while total vaccine administered till now stands 24,548,44.
According to NCOC vaccination centers are open across the country. Vaccination centers will remain closed only on Sundays.
