Oath Taking Ceremony of SMIU Officers Association held
KARACHI, Nov 17, 2022 -The oath taking ceremony of newly elected office bearers of Sindh Madressatul Islam University SMIU Officers Association (SMIUOA) was held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium of the university. Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, Dean and Director of Post Graduate Programs administered the oath to the elected office bearers of the SMIUOA, who were Abdul Waheed Jatoi (President), Syed Mazhar Ali Shah (Senior Vice President), Nisar Memon (Vice President), Dr. Muhammad Afzal Chhajro (General Secretary), Mr. Tariq Aziz Gorar (Joint Secretary, Male), Ms. Quratul Ain Memon (Joint Secretary, female), Talib Hussain Magsi (Finance Secretary) and Mustafa Jatoi (Press Secretary).
Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Mr. Asif Hussain Samo, President of Sindh Madressatul Islam University Teachers Association and Mr. Akbar Ali Chandio, President of SMIU Model School Teachers Association were guests of the event.

Dr. Muhammad Afzal Chhajro, General Secretary of SMIUOA welcomed the guests and officers who attended the ceremony.
Abdul Waheed Jatoi, President of SMIUOA expressed his gratitude to the members of the association, who elected all the office bearers unopposed. Also, he thanked to the vice chancellor and faculty for extending support to him. He pledged to work together with other stakeholders for betterment of the university and its employees. He requested the vice chancellor to solve problems of the officers including lack of transport for some officers, time scale, G.P. Fund and increase in the amount of SMIU loan.
Akbar Ali Chandio congratulated new cabinet of SMIUOA and highlighted role of SMI School and its issues. He hopped that the administration of SMIU will resolve their problems.
Asif Hussain Samo, in his speech said all employees of SMIU including faculty, officers and others must put joint efforts in the development of the university. He said Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai has resolved many problems of employees, but still many problems are needed to be resolved. He said there is no need of any confrontation, but we all have to work together for betterment of the university.
He maintained that faculty of SMIU is most committed and that is fulfilling its prime responsibility of teaching but at the same time, they are working for progress of the university and genuine rights of employees in many ways. He congratulated the newly elected office bearers of SMIUOA and extended his full cooperation to them.
The Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai said our institutions are needed ownership of their employees to produce good results and benefit the nation and the country. The vice chancellor said in future public sector institutions will sustain and survive only on their own resources. Hence, they must take initiatives from today to meet the challenges of future.
Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai said government of Sindh is helping its universities and their budget was increased during the current fiscal year, but at the same time price hike along with increase in salaries of employees made no difference in the affairs of universities. Dr. Sahrai said faculty, officers, other employees and students are main stakeholders of a university, hence they all must work together for its betterment. He was of the view that he is a custodian of this historic institution; hence he does not want to do such things that could bring the institute down. “I believe in team work as by such way we can enhance quality performance of the institute, therefore, all stakeholders must respond in the same positive way,” Dr. Sahrai said.
Dr. Sahrai said and assured the officers, faculty and other employees that their problems will be resolved soon. He congratulated newly office bearers of the officers association and hoped that they will strengthen the university by their collective efforts and wisdom.
Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, senior vice president of SMIUOA presented vote of thanks and Ms. Uzma Batool conducted the proceedings. In the end souvenirs were given to the guests and deans by the office bearers of SMIUOA.
