KARCHI – Jul 17, 2021 – The Sindh government has taken a big decision, now arrests will not be possible in every case.

The cabinet amended the Police Rules.

Draft amendments in Police Rules are approved in Sindh cabinet meeting.

There is a flaw in Pakistan’s criminal justice system, said Sindh government’s law advisor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and added that the accused was arrested as soon as the FIR was lodged and innocent people are arrested.

He said, now no arrests will be made until proven guilty, said Barrister Murtaza Wahab

Law advisor said that such arrests increase the burden on prisons and the judiciary, hence ralizing this, the Sindh government decided to amend the law.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that police officers and experts were consulted on this subject.

The purpose of this amendment is not to arrest the nominee by entering his name in the FIR.

For the arrest of the accused, the investigating police officer will arrest on the basis of evidence.
