NAB recommends references against former finance minister Hafeez Sheikh and others

KARACHI – Jul 12, 2021- The Board recommended that a reference be filed against the officers and officials, the Land Utilization Department, the Board of Revenue and others. The accused Ghulam Mustafa Phul, former member Land Utilization Department, Asif Memon Deputy Commissioner / EDO, and others, are involved in illegal allotment of valuable government land at exorbitant rates and misuse of powers. The accused caused crores of rupees to the exchequer.

A meeting of the Regional Board of NAB Karachi was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Najaf Qali Mirza, Director General, National Accountability Bureau, NAB Karachi.

The Regional Board recommended filing of 2 references and conversion of 2 complaints into inquiries.

The Board recommended that a reference be filed against the officers and officials, the Land Utilization Department, the Board of Revenue and others. The accused Ghulam Mustafa Phul, former member Land Utilization Department, Asif Memon Deputy Commissioner / EDO, and others, are involved in illegal allotment of valuable government land at exorbitant rates and misuse of powers. The accused caused crores of rupees to the exchequer.

The Board recommended filing a reference against the officers and officials, the Board of Revenue and others. The accused are Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, former finance minister, Abdullah Yusuf, former chairman FBR, Salman Siddique, former chairman FBR and others involved in abuse of power. The defendants caused US 11,125 million in damage to the public treasury.

Plea bargain

The Board recommended the approval of the Accountability Court in the application of accused Nazir Ahmed for Rs.1.083 million plea bargain. The accused is involved in misuse of powers and making false and forged records of 731-28 acres of government lands.

Inquiries

The Board allowed inquiry against accused Fayyaz Solangi, Deputy Commissioner, West Karachi District and others. The accused is involved in various corruptions and corruption.

The Board allowed an inquiry against M/s Blackstone Dealers and others. The accused committed massive fraud in the name of Patel Avenue Housing Project, Scheme 33 Karachi. The accused did not take possession of the affected plots. The accused caused crores of rupees to the exchequer.
