Musharraf tried to develop consensus on certain political issues
KHAIRPUR Aug 30,2021-Musharraf tried to develop consensus on certain political issues and also sometime created conflict, says a research on the topic of “Democratic Elitism-Conflict and Consensus: An analytical study of General Pervez Musharraf era 1999-2008.”
Ph. D open defense seminar was held in the Department of Pakistan Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto. Ph. D research scholar Siraj Ahmed Soomro successfully defended his research.
Siraj Ahmed Soomro said his research was focused on the General Pervez Musharraf rule and conflict faced by him during his tenure. He said however, General Musharraf tried to develop consensus on certain political issues wherein political elites sometime developed consensus and also sometime created conflict. These ups and downs of his rule were investigated during the course of my research work. He said there were four big challenges faced by him which were Pakistan not to become rogue state, democratization, poverty reduction and militancy.
Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto in his presidential remarks said that the scholar has portrayed the political scenario of that period.
Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imdad Hussain Sahito, Prof. Dr. Syed Aftab Ahmed Gillani, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooque also shared their views on the research work presented by the scholar.
The research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Imdad Hussain Sahito and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro.
The proceedings of the seminar were conducted by Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director Postgraduate Studies. The seminar was declared successful.
A large number of teachers and research scholars attended the open defense seminar.
