More Arrests in Orangi Town police-involved robbery

KARACHI, Nov 24,2023: Investigation authorities of Karachi police have conducted targeted operations across the city in connection with the recent high-profile and police-involved robbery at the residence of a local businessman in the Orangi Town area.

The latest reports confirm that three suspects linked to the Orangi Town robbery have been apprehended by the authorities.

Shockingly, one of the detained suspects is identified as an informant associated with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, raising questions about the possible involvement of law enforcement insiders in the criminal activity.

Furthermore, it has been disclosed that two of the arrested suspects were allegedly working as informers for the police specifically in the Orangi area. This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.

According to the investigative authorities, the three suspects were present at the businessman’s residence during the time of the robbery in Orangi. Notably, none of the member from the team led by trainee DSP Umeer Tariq, who were reportedly on site during the incident, have been apprehended thus far.

In response to these developments, statements from key figures involved, including SSP South and DSP Umeer Tariq Bajari, have been recorded. However, SHO Defense Shaukat Awan, despite being summoned twice, has failed to appear before the investigators.

Remarkably, SHO Shaukat Awan has submitted a written statement, which, according to the investigating officials, has been rejected. The rejection raises suspicions and prompts further inquiries into the role of law enforcement officials in the alleged robbery.

It is crucial to note that the case related to the police-involved robbery at the residence of businessman Shakir Khan in Orangi Town is registered at Pirabad police station. DSP Umeer Tariq Bajariis under arrest on charges related to the robbery. Additionally, fellow policemen of DSP Umeer Tariq have also been taken into custody in connection with the case.

The unfolding events suggest a potential nexus between law enforcement and criminal activities, raising concerns about the integrity of the police force in the city.

The investigative authorities are expected to intensify efforts to uncover the full extent of the alleged involvement of police personnel in the Orangi Town robbery case.

Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi, Khadim Hussain Rand, has officially confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway regarding the alleged involvement of policemen in the Orangi Town robbery case.

The investigation has brought to light compelling evidence implicating the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) under training, Umeer Tariq Bajari, and two of his fellow officers. The incident, involving the theft of more than two and a half million rupees, occurred at the residence of sanitary wholesale trader Shakir Khan in the Orangi Town area of Karachi.

According to the detailed investigation report, DSP Umeer Tariq Bajari, along with his two accomplices, orchestrated the robbery and kidnapping of innocent brothers. Shockingly, the report reveals the involvement of a 5-member fake team allegedly affiliated with a sensitive institution, further complicating the narrative surrounding the incident.

The findings point to a well-coordinated criminal operation carried out by individuals within the law enforcement apparatus, sparking concerns about corruption and abuse of power within the police force.

The nature of the crime, involving both robbery and kidnapping, has raised alarm bells among the public and calls for a swift and transparent resolution to this disturbing case.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to delve deeper into the motives behind the orchestrated crime and whether it is an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern of misconduct within the police force.

The revelation of a fake team associated with a sensitive institution adds an additional layer of complexity to the unfolding story, prompting heightened scrutiny into the potential involvement of multiple entities.
