KARACHI, November 22, 2022 – Sindh High Court dismissed the application against release of Joyland movie on Tuesday,
The court heard the petition of which says the release of the film is in violation of Article 227 of the Constitution
The petitioner Maulvi Iqbal Haider said, nothing can be done against the spirit and teachings of Islam in Pakistan,
“Have you seen the movie?” Chief Justice Ahmad Ali Shaikh’s query.

The content of the film is not fit to be discussed in open court, the petitioner said and added Islam does not allow a transgender to love and marry a man, petitioner.
You have not seen the film Joyland and have come for ban, Chief Justice said.
The court dismissed the application as inadmissible.

Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) in August formally granted the filmmaker the license to screen the movie in cinemas
The movie, which features a married man falling for a transgender woman,
In May, “Joyland” became the first Pakistani feature film to win a prize at the Cannes Film Festival. It is also Pakistan’s entry for the 2023 Academy Awards in the United States.
