Will Imran Khan be indicted in contempt of court case?
Political analysts and legal experts are debating at TV channels about possible court decision and reaction if the Islamabad High Court convicts former prime minister Imran Khan in contempt of case.
Former judge Sindh High Court Justice (R) Shaiq Usmani said that whether a person is famous or not, it has no effect on the courts.
Former Judge Lahore High Court Shah Khawar talking in a talk show of Geo TV said, if the Islamabad High Court is not satisfied with Imran Khan’s answer, he will be indicted.
Senior journalist and analyst Mujibur Rahman Shami said that many times in the history of Pakistan, there have been court decisions against popular leaders.

Senior journalist and analyst Sohail Waraich said that it is not easy to give a decision against Imran Khan who is at the height of his popularity.
However Former judge Sindh High Court Justice (R) Shaiq Usmani point of view is opposed to Senior journalist Sohail Waraich. He says.no matter the impact, the cases in the courts are dealt with in a legal way.
Imran Khan did not admit his mistake in the contempt of court case, Imran Khan could have said that I made a mistake, I retract my statement. Imran Khan has not asked for an unconditional but a kind of conditional apology, always in contempt of court cases. Unconditional forgiveness is preferred.
Shaiq Usmani said that Imran Khan says that Zeba Chaudhry is an executive magistrate and not a judicial magistrate, Imran Khan has been the prime minister, he does not understand that no magistrate hears such a case.
Courts usually give weight to unconditional pardon, if the High Court does not accept Imran Khan’s apology, then he will be tried. The court cannot accept it, if Imran Khan is confident of his popularity, then the country should shut down.
Former Judge Lahore High Court Shah Khawar said that Imran Khan is being wrongly advised to persist in the contempt of court case, if you look at the judicial precedents related to contempt of court, Imran Khan should not defend his statement, apologize before the courts. No one’s honor and respect is lowered. Imran Khan is very popular but the courts do not give discount to anyone because of popularity, Imran Khan has given an interim reply to the show cause notice.
The former prime minister did not mention apology anywhere in his reply, if the Islamabad High Court is not satisfied with Imran Khan’s answer, he will be charged, once the charge is filed, the court can ask to start the trial.
Former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani was punished till the sitting of the court but he was disqualified for five years. It is possible that Imran Khan could not distinguish between the judicial magistrate and the executive magistrate. The executive magistrate is also using his judicial powers. Respect is equally necessary. But in this case, Zeba Chaudhry is not a Magistrate but an Additional District and Sessions Judge.

Imran Khan is talking strangely that he can take back the words but cannot apologize. If Imran Khan’s words can be taken back then why should he not be apologized for it. Imran Khan should not compel the court to take action against him, Imran Khan apologize with open heart for threatening the lady judge.
Mujibur Rehman Shami said that Imran Khan is not popular enough to take everything away. Imran Khan won 32% votes in the last election, he will be stubborn and will harm himself and pushing himself to the corner.
Imran Khan has people around him who are inciting him, rather he should come out as a big leader, clashing with the court is like clashing with the whole system, I don’t think there is any soft spot for Imran Khan.
Senior journalist and analyst Sohail Waraich said that it is not easy to give a decision against Imran Khan who is at the peak of popularity, the courts respect the public opinion. The decision of the courts is also the decision of the people. Therefore Imran Khan should seek unconditional apology in the court. However, Imran Khan has left room to apologize in his reply, if Imran Khan himself goes to the court, he will probably apologize.
