Not burqa but Hijab mandatory for women: Afghan Taliban
Afghan Taliban government has announced new policies on women, requiring women not to wear the burqa necessarily, but the hijab (head covering) mandatory.
As soon as the Afghan Taliban took over the government, After coming to power in Afghanistan, hold a press conference yesterday, in which talking about women, the Afghan Taliban said that it is not necessary for women to wear burqa, while it will be necessary to wear hijab. Like the previous government, this time it will not be mandatory for women to wear burqa from head to toe.
Under Afghan Taliban regime from 1996 to 2001, women were required to wear the hijab and burqa, while girls were not allowed to go to school or travel or work.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Afghan Taliban, had announced his policy on women’s rights and freedom of the media yesterday.
“Women’s rights are a serious issue, we assure them that all rights will be provided to women within the realm of Islam,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, women, taking into account Islamic traditions, can continue their activities.
