General Asim Munir will be the new Army Chief

Lieutenant General Asim Munir will be the new Army Chief and eneral Sahir Shamshad will be the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, said federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb in a tweet.

Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb has said this in a statement released on social media website Twitter.

She said that Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad will be the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

In her tweet, Maryam Aurangzeb has said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to appoint Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of the Army Staff using the constitutional authority.

Services of Lieutenant General Asim Munir in the Army

Lt Gen Asim Munir joined Pakistan Army from Mangala Officers Training School Programme.

He was commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment, commanding the Northern Territories Force as a Brigadier.

Lt Gen Asim Munir was appointed DG Military Intelligence in early 2017, he was made DG ISI in October 2018.
