An ordinance has been issued for local bodies elections in the federal capital Islamabad. Electronic voting machine and i-voting will be used in the elections.
The President has issued an ordinance for local government elections. The local government will have a directly elected mayor.
Parliament did not consider Election Commission of Pakistan’s report on EVM
According to reports, the term of local government and neighborhood councils in Islamabad will be 4 years.
Elections for local government in Islamabad will be held on party basis.
It should be noted that the bill for electronic voting machine was passed in the joint sitting of the parliament in recent days.
