Netra Prasad Timsina, the chair of the Nepal Red Cross, said: “What is happening in India right now is a horrifying preview of Nepal’s future if we cannot contain this latest Covid surge that is claiming more lives by the minute.”
The female soldiers are deployed for the first time as the nation tries to manage the number of bodies of COVID-19 victims.
Following warnings by health officials earlier this week that the country was on the brink of losing control of its outbreak, Nepal has appealed for urgent international help, British media reported.
Alexander Mathews, Asia Pacific director of the Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said that we need to act swiftly to create any hope of overcoming this catastrophe.
President of the Red Cross of Nepal has said that what is happening in India right now is a frightening scenario for Nepal’s future.
