Ministry of Defense requests Supreme Court to hold simultaneous elections across the country

ISLAMABAD, Sep 23,2022- PTI is considering legal options, including approaching the Supreme Court, to prevent the appointment of the new Army Chief by the hands of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

A leading daily quoting a senior party leader reported. However, when contacted, Fawad Chaudhry denied this and said that he was not aware that any such move was being considered.

PTI does not want the Shehbaz Sharif-led ruling coalition to appoint the army chief at the end of November.

Imran Khan has already said in a TV interview, the matter of appointing the Army Chief should be postponed until the new government comes.

He also said that the newly elected government should appoint the army chief.

A few weeks ago, Imran Khan had no problem with the current government appointing the Army Chief. In a TV interview, he had said that the opposition has nothing to do with such an appointment as this is the job of the prime minister and the government of the time.
