The court on Thursday, remanded all the accused of Nazim Jokhio murder case in judicial custody and adjourned the hearing till December 2.

While hearing the Nazim Jokhio murder case, the court rejected the request of the investigating officer for physical remand of the accused and sent 6 accused including Jam Awais to jail on judicial remand.

The court directed the investigating officer to present the challan on the next hearing.

In the light of the final challan, it will be decided to add the sections of Anti Terrorism Act, the court said.

The new investigating officer of the case, Inspector Siraj Lashari filed an application in the court of Judicial Magistrate Malir for extension of physical remand of the accused for 14 days.

The accused’s lawyer Wazir Khoso opposed the inclusion of anti-terrorism clause, while Afzal Jokhio’s lawyers Advocate Riaz Bhatti, Muhammad Khan Sheikh and Shahzaman Junejo argued for the inclusion of Anti-terrorism provisions in the case,

Inspector Siraj Lashari told the court that yesterday, the investigation has been handed over to him from Mujtaba Bajwa, the old investigating officer of Nazim Jokhio murder case.

MPA Jam Owais arrested in Nazim Jokhio murder case

Earlier in the hearing, during the hearing of Nazim Jokhio murder case in the court of Judicial Magistrate Malir, the police presented six accused, including arrested MPA Jam Awais, with a 14-day progress report.

The report presented in the court stated that on the identification of the accused, two DVs, burnt mobile phone, device were seized, while USB was given by the complainant which was sent to Punjab Forensic University.  

According to the police report, the mobile phones have been sent to the FIA ​​director.

The accused are clever and cunning. Repeatedly changing his statement, three accused have been granted pre-arrest bail and did not join the interrogation, police said.

Police said those on bail are included Mohammad Khan, Ishaq and Saleem Salar.

The police report said that six accused are absconding including Niaz Salar, Ahmed Shoro, Atta Muhammad, Somar Salar alias Clerk, Dawood Salar and Zahid.

It may be recalled that six accused including PPP Sindh Assembly member Jam Awais are in police custody, while four accused including MNA Jam Abdul Karim have been granted bail before arrest.

A few days ago, Nazim Jokhio’s mobile phone and clothes were found in an old well near Jam House in Malir, while the investigating officer of the case said that Nazim Jokhio was tortured in the warehouse of Jam House.

Investigating officer, Siraj Lashari told the court that the post-mortem report of the deceased has not been received yet.

Police have named a total of 21 accused in the case, including five other unidentified persons and two foreigners, the report said.
