Aamir Khan formally announces divorce from Kiran Rao
Couple announced Divorce in a joint statement
Bollywood star Aamir Khan has formally announced his divorce from his wife Kiran Rao after 15 years of marriage.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce in a joint statement, in which they told their followers that it was the end of their marriage but it should be seen as a new journey.
“In 15 beautiful years, we have shared lifelong experiences, joys and sorrows, and during this time, our relationship has grown only with trust, respect and love,” the statement said.
“We are about to start a new chapter in our lives, but not as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family,” the joint statement said.
“The decision to secede was made some time ago but is now being formally announced,” they said.
“We have decided that we will raise our son together as independent parents and will continue to work together for the films and the foundation,” the statement said.
It may be recalled that Aamir and Karan Rao first met during the shooting of the blockbuster film ‘Lagan’. Aamir Khan played the lead role in the film and Kiran Rao was the assistant director of the film.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao were married on December 28, 2005. Aamir had earlier married Reena Dutta and they have two children Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.
