2nd phase LB polls: ECP to request for help of Army, Rangers
During first phase, fewer incidents than in 2015
Police and law enforcers are responsible for maintaining law and order
KARACHI,Jul 1,2022- Provincial Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chauhan on Friday, said that for 2nd phase LB polls, ECP will request for help of Army, Rangers.
WEhile briefing the media about local government election first phase in Sindh Provincial Election Commissione said that incidents occurred at a few polling stations, and there were fewer incidents than in 2015.
He assured that those involved will be prosecuted and added that A comparison of the first phase with 2015 shows a clear difference.
Provincial Election Commissioner said that the staff of the Election Commission consisted of a few employees, while police and law enforcement are responsible for maintaining law and order.
Ijaz Anwar Chauhan said, we will be in dire need of Army and Rangers personnel in the second phase of LB polls in Sindh.

Provincial Election Commissioner emphasised that institutions are needed for fair and peaceful elections.
Talking about second phase of LB polls, we will not tolerate any interference. He advised the political parties to abide by the code of conduct.
For second phase he said more than 13518 nomination papers were received.
There are 172 Returning Officers and 16 DROs, 14 DRO Deputy Commissioners.
He further said that ECP is applying for the deployment of Army and Rangers for July 24 polling.
