21-year old investigation against Nawaz Sharif closed
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has closed a 21-year-old investigation against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over allotment of LDA plots.
Former DG NAB Saleem Shehzad has sent the file to Chairman NAB for final approval.
According to NAB sources, the Joint Investigation Team had recommended closure of the investigation in the inquiry report. At the regional board meeting, the prosecution wing also suggested that the recommendation to close the investigation be implemented.
Former PM Nawaz Sharif’s land auctioned
A complaint was received against Nawaz Sharif on April 3, 2000 and an inquiry was launched against illegal allotment of 13 persons including former Prime Minister.
In this case, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, Fariduddin Ahmed, Syed Ali Kazim, Muhammad Ashfaq, Ehsanul Haq, Syed Hasnat Ahmed, Col (retd) Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Sarwar, Raknuddin, Nazim Ali Shah and Khalid Akhtar and others were included.
