KARACHI: One person was killed in cross firing and three police constable were injured in Orangi Town Karachi during protests against arrest of TLP chief Saad Rzivi.

Police in a bid to disperse violent protesters resorted to aerial firing, and faced firing from the protesters, police officials said. The violent protesters also pelted stone on police and tried to set on fire a police mobile van, and caused damage to it.

The deceased was identified as Talha Alam. According to CNIC found from the deceased’s pocket he was resident of Ghaziabad Orangi. TLP claimed he was a party worker.

A tense situation prevailed in the area.

Protests and sit-ins by a religious organization continue in various cities across the country, causing roadblocks, causing traffic jams in several cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Multan.

Bomb defused

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused a bomb planted on a motorcycle near Jheel Park on Tariq Road.

Police said the bomb weighing 2kg was placed in a tool box of a motorbike.

The Counter-Terrorism Department arrested a suspect from the spot. The BDS in-charge Ghulam Mustafa Arain told reporters that dynamite, RDX and other explosive materials were mixed to make the “non-electric” explosive device.
